Safer Streets for
Pedestrians & Cyclists
Safe Rec Ventura is a community effort to build better bike and pedestrian infrastructure in Ventura. Explore crash data, share your story, and help us create change.
Data covers 1/1/2014 – 3/31/2026
Our Current Focus: Protect PCH
We launched Protect PCH in honor of our friends Kellie Standish, Colby Tucker, and everyone whose lives have been forever changed by preventable tragedies on Ventura County’s Pacific Coast Highway.
PCH should be safe for everyone. We are calling on Ventura County and Caltrans to take immediate action by accelerating safety improvements, conducting an expedited safety study, and building protected northbound infrastructure that saves lives, specifically along the corridor near Solimar Beach, Faria Beach, Rincon, and Emma Wood State Beach.
Every day without action puts more people at risk. It’s time to Protect PCH.
Our Mission
Why Safe Rec Ventura?
Ventura has thousands of recorded bike and pedestrian crashes, many of which are preventable. We believe every resident deserves to walk, roll, and ride safely.
Through community advocacy, data-driven education, and campaigns like Protect PCH, we amplify community voices and work to advance evidence-based infrastructure improvements that make our roads safer for everyone.
🗺 Data-Driven Advocacy
We map real crash records from CHP to show exactly where and how crashes happen. By finding the high crash areas, we can turn our data into a call for action.
📣 Community Voice
Your experience matters. We collect stories and observations from residents to complement official crash data and highlight gaps.
🏛 Policy Change
Our website makes it simple for residents to connect directly with local decision makers by providing an email template to send to local representatives.
🚶 Who We Serve
Cyclists, pedestrians, parents walking kids to school, seniors, and anyone who believes the streets should be safe for everyone — not just drivers.
